  • When and where is the Liberal Party of Canada (British Columbia) Convention?

    The 2022 Convention of the Liberal Party of Canada (British Columbia) will be held in Vancouver, British Columbia and online across the province on May 6 and 7 – featuring keynotes, organizing sessions, and the election of a new LPC(BC) Board and B.C. Commissions representatives.

    The in-person component of the 2022 Convention of the Liberal Party of Canada (British Columbia) will be held in Vancouver, British Columbia, at the Sheraton Wall Centre.

    Virtual access will also be available, to facilitate online access for key program highlights such as special guest remarks, featured panels, and commission meetings, as well as for online voting in the elections to the board of LPC(BC) and the B.C. Commissions.

  • What are the registration fees?

    The Liberal Party of Canada (British Columbia) has worked to keep the registration fees especially low, to encourage as many Liberals as possible to join. You must pay your registration amount when you register.

  • What are some important dates to remember?

    April 1: Registration opens for the 2022 Liberal Party of Canada (British Columbia) Convention

    April 1: Applications open to stand as a candidate for election to the LPC(BC) Board or a B.C. Commission Representative

    April 22: Deadline to submit an application package to stand as a candidate for election to the LPC(BC)Board or a B.C.Commission Executive

    April 29: Last day to register as Liberal and be eligible to vote during convention

    May 6: Deadline to register for virtual access to the convention

    May 6-7: Convention takes place in Vancouver, BC and you can still register on the spot!

  • How do I pay for my registration fee?

    Registration fees must be paid either from an individual’s own personal funds, by an Electoral District Association, or from funds raised through other eligible contributors. We cannot accept cash payments, or payments from corporations.

  • Is my registration fee eligible for a tax receipt?

    Yes. A receipt for income tax purposes will be issued to all registrants for an eligible contribution amount. A portion of your registration fee is considered a donation to the Liberal Party of Canada and is therefore tax-deductible and entitles you to a tax credit. The size of your tax credit depends on the amount you donate in 2022.

  • How can my registration information be used and protected?

    Protecting the information of the Canadians with whom we engage is a foremost priority for the party in all of our operations, organizing, and communications – and of course, that includes our 2022 Liberal Party of Canada (British Columbia) Convention.

    As one part of that commitment, the Liberal Party of Canada has a clear and stringent privacy policy in place which is designed to protect individual Canadians’ private information by ensuring its confidentiality, security and accuracy. This policy can be viewed here: www.liberal.ca/privacy

    In certain circumstances, the party may also share convention attendees’ registration information with our 2022 Liberal Party of Canada (British Columbia) Convention hosting partners, such as event production partners. Candidates for election to party boards at this convention may also receive lists of eligible voters for those contests, and the temporary use of those lists is strictly governed by our privacy policy and bylaws.

  • When will voting take place for the Election of Officers at the 2022 LPC(BC) Convention?

    Voting will take place from Saturday, May 7th, from 1:15 PM until 4:15 PM PDT.

  • Who will be eligible to vote at the 2022 LPC(BC) Convention?

    To be Eligible to vote, Registered Liberals must reside in British Columbia, be registered to attend the convention and have a valid Registered Liberal status at the latest as of April 29th, 2022.

  • How will the election be held?

    The election will be held through the Simply Voting service provider.

    To access the online ballot, attendees will need to access the email inbox used to register for the Convention.

    A link to the ballot will be sent by email from Simply Voting (vote@simplyvoting.com) to all eligible voters attending the convention at the start of the voting period, which will grant access to a webpage with a personalized ballot.

  • How to cast your ballot?

    When the Simply Voting page opens you will see a short message at the top of the page that indicates for which election you are voting and for how long the voting window will be open.

    If you need to change the language of the ballot, you may do so by clicking the English or French buttons at the top of the page.

    Scroll down the page to see the ballot questions for which you will be voting for.

    Make your selection for each position by clicking the white box to the left of your desired candidate’s name. You will know you have successfully selected a candidate if the box turns blue with a white check mark through it.

    For the Director position, since there are more than two contestants, you will be asked to rank your preferred Directors by assigning a number next to the contestants name, “1” being their first choice. You are not obliged to rank all contestants.

    Once you have made all your selections, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the green Continue button. You will be taken to a confirmation page that displays your previous choices.

    If you want to make any changes to your selections, you may do so by scrolling down the page, clicking the red Change button.

    When you are ready to submit your ballot, scroll to the bottom of the page and click the green Confirm button.

    Please note: no further changes can be made once you click the Confirm button. The page will update and you will see a Success message at the top of the page, indicating that your vote has been recorded. You can see your voting receipt by scrolling down and clicking the blue View Receipt link, which will display your previous selections.
